Ophion Tool Vault is a curated, public directory for software tools, developer tricks, and learning resources. We believe in minimal data collection: we only gather what is strictly necessary to provide an optional user account, manage personal bookmarks, and process community submissions.

1. Information We Collect

Browsing, searching, and viewing resources on Ophion requires no account and collects no personal profile information. If you choose to create an account or submit content, we collect the following:

  • Account Credentials: Your chosen username and email address.
  • Passwords: Passwords are hashed server-side using strong cryptographic hashing (bcrypt) before being stored. Plain-text passwords are never logged, never stored, and never exportable by anyone, including administrators.
  • Bookmarks & Preferences: Tools, tricks, and resources that you explicitly save to your personal account.
  • Community Submissions: Tools, tricks, resources, descriptions, URLs, and optional image assets you submit for editorial review.
  • IP Addresses (Transient Only): When you submit a contact form or authenticate, your client IP address is extracted from request headers (such as x-forwarded-for) solely for temporary rate limiting to defend against spam and automated abuse. IP addresses are not permanently linked to user accounts in our primary database.

2. Third-Party Processors & Infrastructure

We rely on trusted third-party infrastructure providers to host our database, media assets, and communications:

Turso (ChiselStrike)

Database service provider hosting our encrypted SQL database, including account records, bookmarks, and curated tool listings.

Cloudinary

Media hosting and CDN used to securely store and deliver tool logos, screenshots, and folder graphics uploaded by users and editors.

EmailJS

Transactional email delivery service used exclusively to forward contact form inquiries and deliver automated receipt confirmations.

3. Cookies & Session Storage

Ophion does not use advertising cookies, marketing trackers, cross-site profiling, or third-party analytics pixels.

We use a single, strictly functional session cookie named ophion_session. This cookie holds an opaque, 64-character random token generated by cryptographic random bytes. It contains no personal information, role flags, or permissions. It is transmitted securely over HTTPS (HttpOnly; Secure; SameSite=Lax) solely to maintain your signed-in session state.

Because this cookie is strictly necessary to provide the service you explicitly requested (signing into an account), it does not require prior opt-in consent under EU ePrivacy / GDPR guidelines, but we disclose it here in full transparency.

4. Payments & Children's Privacy

  • No Financial Transactions: Ophion is a 100% free directory. We do not process payments, collect billing information, or sell products, and consequently do not maintain any refund policies.
  • Children's Data: Ophion does not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area).

5. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You have full control over your information. You can remove your saved bookmarks at any time from your profile or bookmarks screen. If you wish to deactivate your account or request the permanent deletion of your account and associated personal submissions, please reach out via our contact form.
